"I welcome the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2008 which contains some important reforms of the licensing laws and public order legislation to address the adverse consequences of alcohol misuse in our society" the Minister said.

The Minister went on to say that the Government is concerned about the negative impact alcohol is having on young people in particular and is looking at other ways of addressing this problem including the new stricter Voluntary Codes on Advertising of Alcohol introduced by her Department on 1st July this year.
